AutoDJ helps to ensure that your station broadcasts 24/7 without interruption. It automatically fills airtime between scheduled Events and acts as a backup system if a live 3rd-party encoder disconnects, preventing dead air for your listeners.
Many broadcasters use AutoDJ as their primary automation engine, but we recommend keeping AutoDJ enabled at all times, even when broadcasting live, to serve as a stream backup.
Tip: You may have access to 1 or more Live365 stations. See our Dashboard Navigation article to learn more about selecting the station which you want to work with. Once on that Station's Overview page, you can then follow along.
Accessing AutoDJ settings
To open your AutoDJ configuration menu:
- Select your station in the Live365 Dashboard.
- From the left-hand Station Menu, click Streaming.
- Select AutoDJ.
Global Settings
From the Global tab, you can toggle the main AutoDJ feature on or off.
- Enabled (Checked): AutoDJ will automatically play music whenever no scheduled Event or LiveDJ broadcast is active.
- Disabled (Unchecked): If no Events are scheduled, your stream will be completely silent.
Click Save after modifying your Global settings.
Track Mix & Station IDs
The Track Mix tab allows you to control the variety of content AutoDJ plays from your library.
Check the boxes next to the specific Track Types (e.g., Music, Promo, Talk) you want AutoDJ to pull from.
Tip: Properly categorizing your media during upload or in the Tracks library ensures AutoDJ generates a balanced rotation.
Station IDs are short audio tracks that identify your station. To use this feature, your audio files must have their Media Type set to Station ID.
Select how frequently you want Station IDs to play in your AutoDJ rotation:
- 1, 2, 4, or 6 times per hour
Click Save after updating your Track Mix settings.
Crossfade Settings
Crossfading creates seamless transitions between songs.
- Setting a Duration: Enter a value between 1 and 20 seconds to set transition lengths.
- Disabling Crossfade: Enter 0 for Crossfade Duration, Fade In, and Fade Out for hard cuts between tracks.
Note: Station IDs and advertisements are never crossfaded. Learn more in our Crossfade Settings Guide.
Click Save after updating your Crossfade settings.
Monetize - Advertisements
With Ads Packages
If you’re on a With Ads package, you’re automatically enrolled into the Advertising Revenue Share Program. AutoDJ automatically inserts 4 minutes of ads per hour. You can choose how those 4 minutes are split across the hour using the Preferred Ad Break Duration dropdown menu:
- 120 seconds (2 mins): 2 ad breaks per hour
- 60 seconds (1 min): 4 ad breaks per hour
- 30 seconds: 8 ad breaks per hour
When you are satisfied with your Advertisement settings, click the Save button.
Ad Control Packages
Broadcasters on Ad Control packages can choose if and when to enable Live365 network ads.
If you choose to enable ads on an Ad Control package, AutoDJ will insert 4 minutes of network ads per hour based on your selected ad break duration ratio (e.g., two 2-minute breaks per hour).
Click Save after confirming your Advertisement settings.
