The Approval Process & Requirements

Distribution on iHeartRadio (U.S. only) is subject to iHeart’s direct approval. Because they now operate on a limited-capacity model, all stations are reviewed based on specific criteria:

  • Terrestrial Station Requirement: iHeartRadio distribution is currently limited to terrestrial stations that also maintain an online stream. In general, non-college internet-only stations are not eligible for iHeartRadio distribution through Live365.
  • College Station Exception: The terrestrial station requirement does not apply to college stations. Internet-only college stations may still be submitted for iHeartRadio review, but approval is not guaranteed.
  • Defensible Branding: iHeart prioritizes unique, digital-first brands. Station names should be clean and avoid terrestrial suffixes like -FM, -AM, or -DB unless you can provide official FCC documentation for those call signs.
  • Performance Metrics: iHeart favors stations that demonstrate healthy, organic listener engagement and active promotion of their iHeart listing.
  • Seat Availability: Listings are subject to current capacity. If a seat is not immediately available, eligible stations may be placed on a waitlist.
