Live365 offers support for your choice of output formats. This configurable option lets you choose the best audio format for you and your listeners.

Whether your target audience consists of audiophiles that prefer to listen to the highest quality music, or you stream talk shows and prefer to save some bandwidth – either way, we’ve got you covered! You can select to either output bitrates in MP3 or AAC format, and also pick from a range of bitrates between 32 and 320 kbps (depending on your streaming package).

Tip: You may have access to 1 or more Live365 stations. See our Dashboard Navigation article to learn more about selecting the station which you want to work with. Once on that Station's Overview page, you can then follow along.

How to access Output Encoding settings

  1. Open the Live365 Dashboard here. (login required)
  2. Select the station that you want to set up the output encoding for.
  3. In the left navigation menu, click Streaming. Locate the Output Encoding panel within the Encoding tab of the Streaming screen, as shown below:
The encoding options available to you will vary based on the station's current package.

Note: Once you update the encoding options it may take 2-5 minutes for the change to roll out to listeners. Stations running on LiveDJ mode may experience slightly longer delays. Your listeners may notice a brief interruption, but the stream will quickly continue with no action needed by them.

Packages and availability

Both MP3 and AAC output formats are available across all Live365 packages. Broadcast 1 stations can opt for either MP3 or AAC output and up to 128 kbps. Broadcast 2,3 and above stations can increase their quality up to a maximum of 192 kbps and 320 kbps respectively for both AAC and MP3 streams.

Stream URLs

The MP3 stream URL for each Live365 station remains the same:

https://streaming.live365.com/mount

If you select the AAC format, the AAC mount is differentiated through our system adding "_2" to the stream URL. For example, if your station is a13735, and you have configured MP3 and AAC, your available stream URLs would be:

https://streaming.live365.com/a13735
https://streaming.live365.com/a13735_2
