During the troubleshooting process, we may ask you for a screenshot of what you are seeing on your phone or mobile device. This allows us to see what you are seeing.


Each brand and model of phone has a different way to accomplish taking a screenshot. Usually, it requires a combination of keys to be pressed or a gesture.


Android devices


Acer

  • At the same time, hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Pull down the notification panel to reach quick settings and tap the Screenshot icon.

Asus

  • At the same time, hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Pull down the notification panel to reach quick settings and tap the Screenshot icon.

Google

  • Nexus: Hold down the power and volume-down buttons, at the same time, for a couple of seconds.
  • Pixels: Hold down the power and volume-down buttons, at the same time, for a couple of seconds.

HTC

  • HTC U12+: Press and hold the power button until your phone vibrates, and then tap the virtual home button on the navigation bar while still pressing the power button
  • HTC U series (up to U12+): Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • HTC 10: Hold down the home and power buttons OR hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Most other HTC phones: Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

Huawei and Honor 

  • Hold down the power and volume-down buttons, at the same time, for a couple of seconds.
  • Pull down the notification panel, switch to "Shortcuts," and tap the Screenshot icon.

Lenovo

  • Hold down the power and volume-down buttons, at the same time, for a couple of seconds.
  • Pull down the notification panel and tap the Screenshot icon.

LG 

  • LG G7: Press and hold the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Most other LG phones: Hold down the power (located on the back of the phone) and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Pull down the notification panel and tap the Capture+ icon.

Motorola 

  • Hold down the power and volume-down buttons, at the same time, for a couple of seconds.

OnePlus

  • All OnePlus phones: Press and hold the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • OnePlus 5, 5T, and 6: Swipe down with three fingers on the home screen.

Samsung 

  • Galaxy S8 and later: Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Galaxy S7 and earlier: Hold down the home and power buttons for a couple of seconds.

Sony 

  • Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
  • Hold down the power key until a screen appears and tap "Take screenshot."

ZTE 

  • Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.


Google Assistant


If your phone supports it, you can also ask Google Assistant to take a screenshot for you. When you see the screen that you want to capture, say, "OK Google, take a screenshot," and it should do so. You'll see that it saves a picture of the screen below the Google Assistant interface. 


You can quickly access the freshly taken screenshot from the notification center by swiping down. Otherwise, screenshots are stored in a device folder, and this can be located in the Photos app.


iPhone and iPad


iPhone 8, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Press and hold the top or side button. 
  2. Immediately click the Home button, and then release the Top or Side buttons.
  3. In iOS 11, a thumbnail of your screenshot appears in the lower-left corner of your device. Tap the thumbnail to add drawings and text with Markup, or press and hold the thumbnail to share the screenshot. Swipe left on the thumbnail to dismiss it.


iPhone X

  1. Press and hold the side button on the right side of your device.
  2. Immediately click the Volume up button on the left side, then release the buttons.
  3. A thumbnail of your screenshot appears in the lower-left corner of your device. Tap the thumbnail to add drawings and text with Markup, or press and hold the thumbnail to share the screenshot. Swipe left on the thumbnail to dismiss it.


To find the screenshot you just took, along with ones you've taken before, go to Photos -> Albums and select "Screenshots."
